Imagine the scent of lemons in the air, fresh seafood spoiling your tastebuds, windy roads taking you to clifftop churches and terraces that will mesmerize you with the best views—what a dream! The Amalfi Coast is the perfect destination for romantics who want a taste of true summertime bliss. Blessed with long sunny days, turquoise waters, and picture-perfect sunsets, you simply can’t miss visiting at least once in your lifetime.
While you certainly won't get to see everything the Amalfi Coast has to offer in three days, with the proper planning, you'll be able to get the best highlights and have an unforgettable time. Booking a quick Amalfi Coast trip is especially convenient if you are already in Italy or another European city, as you can quickly jet over or take a train down.
The Amalfi Coast is also perfectly suited for town hopping over a longer trip. No matter which you choose, if you have the Viajera Convertible Travel Dress packed, you will be prepared for any of our hotel, town, or dining recommendations. Now, let’s go over some basics and suggestions for your trip to the Amalfi Coast to ensure an unforgettable journey!
Where to Stay
When it comes to accommodations, the region has plenty to offer, with something to suit every traveler’s taste. Here are a few recommendations:
The Borgo Santandrea is a classically decorated hotel with a stunning view of Amalfi. It is featured in most Italy travel guides due to its remarkable beauty and historic charm. Nestled into the cliffs with private beach access and a classic beach club experience, you’ll get your money’s worth at this hotel.
Another recommendation is Monastero Santa Rosa. Set within the stone walls of the ancient monastery, this hotel offers an immersive wellness experience on the Gulf of Salerno. More secluded than our other recommendations, with gardened terraces and a floating pool, you will be away from the hustle and bustle of the coastline.
Finally, there is Le Sirenuse. One of the most luxurious hotels in Positano, the Le Sirenuse hotel is set close to the finest beaches in town. With the best blend between city and sea that you’ll find in Positano, the Le Sirenuse offers its guests every amenity.
What to See
Where you end your days is equally as important as what you fill them with. The Amalfi Coast is an area consisting of more than a dozen smaller towns and villages. The most popular ones are Positano, Ravello, and Amalfi, but we encourage you to savor the smaller towns on the Amalfi coast as well if time permits. The smaller towns we suggest are Praiano and Atrani, as they are conveniently located in between the most popular destinations.
We suggest starting in Positano and working your way up the coast if you are planning on seeing the entirety of the Amalfi Coast. If you prefer to explore one place more in-depth, Positano has a wonderful blend of activities and relaxation. While in Positano, you simply have to visit the Spiaggia Grande, the famous beach that's perfect for enjoying an Aperol spitz. Hiking along the cliffs is also a great way to take in the water without lounging next to it. Don’t forget a ceramic souvenir to remember your trip!
Ravello is a seaside paradise loved by poets and muses alike. If you are visiting in July or August, you can’t miss out on the Ravello Music Festival; the concerts put on during the festival overlook the water and feature Italian musicians. The villas in Ravello, such as Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, are stunning. Overall, the architecture and views are the main draw of Ravello!
Last and certainly not least, Amalfi itself. Its harbor is a transport hub and the way you’d be reaching most of the smaller towns, so you’ll easily be able to spend a day there. The Amalfi Duomo and St. Andrea’s fountain must be on your itinerary for the day. While strolling through the narrow alleyways of the town, you’re encouraged to enjoy limoncello and lemon sorbet, in true Amalfi Coast style.
Here’s an overview of the must-sees in each town:
Positano- Visit Spiaggia Grande
- Go hiking on its scenic trails
- Walk along Via Positanesi d’America
- Buy a ceramic souvenir
- Visit some of the stunning villas, such as Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone
- Explore the Duomo di Ravello and Piazza Fontana Moresca
- If you happen to visit during July and August, don’t miss out on the Ravello Music Festival
- Start your morning at the Amalfi harbor and marina
- Explore Amalfi’s Duomo
- Amalfi’s Fountain of St Andrea
- Stroll through the narrow alleys
