11 Tiny Travel Must-Haves

The bag you bring on vacation is as important as what you put in it. Being well-prepared for whatever the day throws at you, using our recommendations of course, will ensure that you’ll have what you need to go from day to night seamlessly. Perfecting the contents of a bag is an art, and to do it in a way that seems accidental (think Alexa Chung’s what's-in-my-bag on her personal YouTube channel when she casually pulls out a plane ticket to a destination she forgot visiting) can be hard. The idea behind the perfect day bag is that you are able to live out of that bag until you lay your head down at night – no matter where that may be.

There are a few beauty products that are a must in any bag. Deodorant, styling spray, lip stain, brown mascara, and some sort of smell-good-all-day fragrance. The ability to freshen up is so much more than just looking good. Sometimes a good reset will turn your whole day around, and maybe even lead to a spontaneous night out…

These products will keep you on point all day and night and fit easily in any bag:

Malin + Goetz Bergamot Deodorant: Small enough to fit in most bags, but powerful enough to last through a night of dancing.

Ouai Travel Wave Spray: Nothing sexier than those post-ocean-swim waves.

e.l.f Glossy Lip Stain: This lip-stain is affordable, animal cruelty-free, and long-lasting.

Glossier Lash Stick: Brown Mascara can also work on brows in a pinch, this one has a more natural finish for that no-makeup-makeup look.

Maison Louis Marie Perfume Oil Mini: This scent is tropical and sexy, the perfume oil is compact enough to fit into a clutch, and the silage is amazing.

Being able to dress a look up or down is important. The right hoops, a small change to your outfit, or putting up your hair can transform you. Understated yet chic, three wearables we recommend throwing in your day bag to be able to transition for any occasion are our Viajera Bolero, a French hair pin, and a simple pair of hoops. The last two are small enough to fit in a pocket and can elevate any look.

Viajera Bolero: Our bolero folds down small enough to fit in a clutch and is the perfect light jacket to keep in your bag when the days are warm and nights are cool.

Machete French Hair Pin: Some say black goes with everything, but it’s actually tortoise shell. And, French hair pins are the chic, older sister of claw clips. You heard it here first!

brook and york Haley Thin Hoops: These hoops are thin enough to add a subtle touch to an outfit, yet thick enough not to get lost forever in your bag.

Taking 10,000 photos on vacay and filling up the last of your iPhone storage is all well and good, but a digital camera, a good journal and the humble glue stick are wonderful items to have on hand to capture those truly special moments, in a way an iPhone could never. Beyond that, photography and journaling are wonderful hobbies to pick up while traveling.

Kodak PIXPRO FZ45: A great digital camera for beginners! P.S. digital cameras are not only better for the environment, but you also don’t have to worry about getting the images developed later.

Moleskine Classic Notebook: Moleskine is classic for a reason. Their hardback notebooks fit well in any bag, and their paper is seriously high-quality, like the good stuff. It is not only good just for journaling, but also scrapbooking, painting and more.

UHU Stic Glue Stick: A glue stick may seem odd in a purse, but it’s the perfect thing for gluing ticket stubs, images, and pictures you collect during your trip into your journal. Pro tip: a very small amount of glue is also good for shaping your brows and helping with flyaways in a pinch!
